What You'll Need:
- Freshly roasted Rock Island Roastery Coffee :)
- French Press
- Grinder – ideally a burr grinder set on coarse grind
- Kettle
- Scale to measure coffee amount (or a tablespoon measure)
- Mugs, ideally with white interior to savour the colour of freshly brewed coffee!
Coffee Brewing Guide:
- Grind - Coarse is best (but feel free to experiment!)
- Brew time – approx. 4 min
- Water temperature – just off the boil - around 96C / 205F
- Water to coffee ratio – 15 parts water to 1 part coffee
- For 2 cups of coffee - 33g of coarse ground coffee (approx. 2 tablespoons) to 500ml of boiled water
- For 4 cups of coffee - 65g of coarse ground coffee to 1 litre of boiled water
Steps to a great cup of coffee:
- Preheat your French Press by filling half way with hot water and swishing. Dump out the water.
- Add coarse ground coffee into the French Press using the amounts recommended above.
- Pour recently boiled water over coffee into the French Press just enough to cover the ground coffee. Stir gently with a wooden spoon and let sit for 45 seconds.
- Continue pouring in a circular motion remainder of boiled water to fill French Press to desired level.
- Wait an additional 3 minutes while the coffee extracts.
- Gently stir again. The coffee crust on top should gently settle to the bottom.
- Push the plunger down slowly and gently.
- Enjoy a delicious cup of Rock Island Roastery coffee!
